Bulbophyllum macranthum is native to Assam, Myanamar, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Borneo, Java, Moluccas, The Philippines, Sulawesi, Sumatra, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. They can be found at altitudes of 700 up to 1500 meters.

Light:
It needs a light intensity of 27000-38000 lux. Bulbophyllum macranthum needs a lot of light but does not like direct sunlight at noon.

Temperature:
They grow best in hot temperatures 18-29°C.

Humidity:
It needs a high humidity of 70-80%.

Substrate, growing media and repotting:
Best grown on a slab of tree fern, cork or in net pots, so they get a lot of air. If re-potting this plant, use bark and sphagnum.

Watering:
Water this plant when it gets dry. Keep moist in summer seasons and do not allow mix to dry.

Fertilizer:
During the active growth of the plant fertilize weekly with 1/4-1/2 of the recommended dose of fertilizer for orchids. You can use a balanced fertilizer all year round, but you can use a fertilizer with a high nitrogen content from spring to mid-summer, and a high phosphorus content in late summer and autumn.

Rest period:
In winter keep the mix slight dry and reduce watering. Keep good air movement to avoid fungal growth.
