Brassavola cucullata comes from Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, French Guiana, Surinam, Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia and Peru where it grows as a medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte or lithophyte. They can be found in coastal rainforests at elevations up to 1800 meters. It blooms from summer till autumn with one to two flowers of 17.5 cm in size. The flowers smells somewhat skunky at night. Flowers that appear later in it's season and exposed to a cold snap will have a redder appearance.

It grows best mounted on wood.

Moist till dry. 2-4 waterings per week but let dry between waterings.
Fertilizer:
Brassavola orchids send out several flushes of leaves throughout the year and healthy plants are year-round bloomers. As a result, the plant should be fed throughout the year with a weak fertilizer solution (1/4 strength weekly).
