Cyrtopodium palmifrons was described by Rchb. f. & Warm. in 1881

Found in Minas Gerais, Sao Paulo, Santa Catarina and Parana' states of Brazil and northern Argentina as a medium to giant sized, cool growing epiphyte that blooms in late spring with many fragrant flowers with a flower size of 3 cm.

Light:
Very bright light. Many of the species require full sun to bloom. These plants live in the points of the trees or in thin forests, receiving about 75% of light, the shadow must be by 50%.

Temperature:
Temperature may vary from 10ºC to 40ºC.

Substrate, growing media and repotting:
The larger plants need large clay pots with a good open mix but some of the smaller species should have smaller clay pots.

Watering:
During the growing season they will take lots of water with a rest period after the growth is completed.

Fertilizer:
Fertilize heavily during the growing season. A slow release fertilizer (balanced) in addition to a twice monthy feeding.
